Patient transport survey: 16 October – 10 November 2017

Clinical Commissioning Groups across the South West are seeking views from patients on how they can provide fair access to NHS-funded non-emergency transport.

The survey is open from Monday 16 October – Friday 10 November 2017.

The aim of the survey is to help inform the development of a consistent approach to eligibility for NHS-funded patient transport. Patient transport is a non-emergency service offered to people who cannot get to their hospital appointments because their health condition impacts on their ability to use routine transport (cars/trains/buses/taxis/wheelchair taxis).

National eligibility criteria were set in 2007, however these have been subject to variation in local interpretation, agreed exclusions and the way that eligibility is applied. The aim of the Clinical Commissioning Groups is to ensure that NHS-funded non-emergency patient transport is provided in a fair way for all those who need help getting to hospital appointments.

Newsletter delivery – Help Needed

We have an effective team of volunteers who deliver the parish newsletter to your door, but due to recent retirements and house moves, we need some replacements!  If we can’t get volunteers then we’ll have to miss those houses out or pay someone (with your precept money) to get it done.  Both of these would be unfortunate.

The newsletter only comes out 3 times a year and we particularly need at least:

  • 6 volunteers in Gomeldon (to cover all 310 properties)
  • 2 in Porton (55 properties on and around Tidworth Road, 62 properties on Gomeldon Road, The Avenue and part of Idmiston Road)

Please contact the Parish Clerk if you are able to support us

Speedwatch Volunteers Needed Now!

We have received approval for two Community Speedwatch projects in Porton: 1) Winterslow Road

2) A338 Tidworth Road

2 teams of volunteers are needed and will be trained by Wiltshire Police.

Without sufficient volunteers there will be no Speedwatch.

To find out more, please contact Cllr Steven Cocking on 01980 610852 or email steven.cocking@idmistonpc.org
