Badminton Club

The Badminton Club meets in the large hall of Idmiston Parish Memorial Hall every Wednesday commencing at 09:00 hours and ending at 12:00 hours.  The hall has an excellent sprung floor and is well heated on colder days.  Normally we adjust our fees to cover the cost of hiring the hall, but they currently stand at £4.00 per person, payable on the day.  Games are regulated by a peg board system to ensure that everyone has equal playing time.  Due to having only one court doubles are normally played and we have the choice of either feathered or plastic shuttlecocks although the latter are normally used.  We are a social club and, in general, the standard of play is below league standard but nonetheless very competitive.

Between games players congregate in the kitchen where a cup of tea, coffee or squash are available with biscuits, all of which are included in your weekly fee.  Should you wish to take part the only requirement is a suitable pair of sports shoes and enthusiasm.  Nets and shuttles are provided as well as a full-size court.  We only have the one court and accordingly cannot provide instruction.  However, we have a range of different standards with both ladies and gentlemen taking part.  Three hours for £4.00 can’t be bad so why not give us a try?
